The studied area is located in the southeast Irumide fault fold belt in Chipata area,Zambia. The1:10000geological survey in this area shows the alteration mineralizationwidely develops in various types and in large-scale, closely related with structures in thearea. Gold mineralization is mainly ferrous altered quartzite, quartz vein and silicifiedgabrro types.By the1:50000soil geochemical survey, and with the application of EXCEL andGEOEXPL to process the data of the samples, background value and anomaly lower limitare determined; contour and anomaly maps of single-element soil geochemistry of13elements, such as As, Mo, Mn, Pb, Sn, Se, Sb, Cu, Hg, Zn, Ni, Co, W are drawn. And theanomaly maps show elements with more anomaly points are As, Cu, Mn, Pb, Zn and so on,and As, Co, Cu, Mn, Zn anomalies concentrate relatively, while others are dispersed, whichindicate great difference in the anomaly scales, and the anomaly focus area is distinct, withsome regularity.Correlation analysis, factor analysis and cluster analysis are also applied to analyzethe paragenetic characteristics of the13elements, showing Cu-Mn-Zn and As-Sb-Sncombination are the main mineralization portfolio in this area, and As, Sb, Cu and Zn arethe indicator elements for finding gold. By analyzing the anomaly map of elementscombination,1-3,9-13and15abnormal areas of Zn-Mn-Cu mineralization portfolio arethe next key exploration areas. On the basis of former researches and the researches did in this paper, it is believedthat greenstone and mafic and ultramafic rocks are well developed in the area, host rocksof the gold mineralization, type of minerals and mineralization characteristics of this areahave similar characteristics with greenstone type gold deposits, and have goodmetallogenic potential and prospect prospecting.
