Reservoir characterization is a kind of integrated technology for evaluating reservoir geology applying to exploration and development of oilfield. More than20years of exploration and development showed that reservoir characterization has become a key technology for knowing and evaluating oilfield and enhancing exploration and development benefit. Developing detail reservoir characterization can help to accurately evaluate oil and gas pool and to understand petroleum distribution, especially in complex geologic condition area, enhancing drilling skill, exploration and development benefits.Taking the block Zhaoyuannan for example, this paper has deeply studied its reservoir type, sedimentation characteristics and reservoir characterization. Aimed at complex oil and brine relation of the area, structure features, deposition style, physical property of reservoir have been deeply and accurately analyzed. On the basis of core description and logging facies analysis, depositional microfacies has been studied, which build up typical pattern of depositional microfacies, and grasp distribution character of depositional microfacies. Structure map has been redeveloped, and structural shapes and fault distributions have been further determined. Combined logging, seismic data with geologic material, seismic inversion technique has been developed, and inversion method for predicting interbeded thin sandbodies formed. Oil and brine distribution has been studied, and reservoir style and oil-bearing range have been primarily confirmed, which acquired evident economic and social benefits in the practice of reservoir exploration and development in the area.
