Based on the foundation of classical communication and quantum mechanics,quantum communication has the characteristic of unconditional safety. Since the firstQKD(quantum key distribution) protocol(BB84) was proposed in1984, it has been paidwidely attention for its unique advantage. In this paper, we mainly focus on the keytechnology——quantum switch of the quantum communication system.Firstly, we briefly introduce the basic conceptions, research status and prospects ofthe quantum communication, and then the basic principle, which includes the basis ofquantum mechanism, the basis of quantum information, typical QKD protocols,encoding of qubit and the linear optical devices; In the third part, we introduce thecomponents of the quantum communication system, especily the function of each part.We present the basics principle of the experiment QKD platform based on B92protocol,the application of the keys produced by QKD; In the next part the key technology ofquantum communication—quantum switch and its conception is introduced, and theimplementation scheme of the linear optical quantum Fredkin gate is proposed, thebasic performance of the quantum Benes network constructed by the proposed quantumlogic gate is also analyzed. Finally, we conclude the paper and give some suggestionsfor future works.
