At present, the majority of oil and gas field block has been developed to a certainextent, especially in the eastern old oilfield, structural lithologic oil large gas field hasbecome praiseworthy for one’s excellent conduct. The more perplexing problem ishow to discriminate the thin interbed in geophysics. Seismic data carry a lot ofreservoir geological information, and seismic reservoir prediction has become animportant means of detecting oil and gas reservoir. As an important reservoir description technique at the oil field developmentstage, time-frequency methods can obtain the instantaneous attributes which canguide reservoirs prediction, and are able to distinguish the thickness of reservoir inConventional system domain, and its application combined with stratigraphiccontinuity is able to guide thin interbed and weak reflection reservoir seismicidentification, and predict the oil and gas reservoirs. The method can improve thevertical resolution. In addition, Wheeler transform describes stratigraphic diagram in geological time, which draws vertical geologic time domain but not the depth domain formation. andhas strong time-parallel significance, and wipe off regional tectonic backgroundinfluence so that it can effectively tell deposit-free or erosion events and identifyhorizontal distribution, visually depict the stratums’ geological time-spatialdistribution characteristics and the sedimentary, no deposition or erosion events, analyze the progress of evolution and development about sediment. The method canimprove the horizontal resolution.Firstly, the seismic reflection characteristics of the wedge model, equal-thicknessmodel and unequal-thickness model in thin interbedded medium is studied. Secondly, some research of time-frequency analysis and feature extraction is done, and the besttime-frequency method is selected. Thirdly this paper introduces three kinds of Wheeler transform method, and analyzes its advantages and disadvantages, points outthat the Wheeler domain can be used to describe the distribution characteristics offormation in geological time-space domain and related deposition, no deposition orerosion event. Finally, the comprehensive application of Wheeler transform methodand time-frequency method is done in synthetic data and actual data. The Wheeler transform can describe the direction and range of the reservoir, andanalyse sedimentary evolution and transverse migration effect. What’s more,Time-frequency analysis can more accurately analyze longitudinal distribution. Sointegrated application of the two methods can take the advantages of horizontalresolution in the Wheeler domain and can take the advantages of vertical resolution inthe conventional system domain, which can greatly avoid the multi-explain resultedfrom applying single technique and promote the reservoir prediction.
