Risk is a very common and widespread phenomenon, if we want to deal with andcontrol risk, it is necessary to be able to evaluate and measure it. However, due toambiguity or incompleteness of the information, many natural phenomena mapped tothe human brain can only be expressed in everyday language, this phenomenon isvague and uncertain. For this kind of problems, we need basing on fuzzy mathematicstheory, using fuzzy risk analysis method to analyze such problems. This paper presents a new fuzzy risk analysis method on the basis of the existingsimilarity measures between fuzzy numbers. First of all, a correct geometric methodto calculate the center of gravity (COG) of generalized trapezoidal fuzzy numbers isproposed. We present a novel method to measure the degree of similarity betweengeneralized trapezoidal fuzzy numbers based on the geometric distance, the center ofgravity, the area and the perimeter of these kinds of fuzzy numbers and we also provesome properties of the proposed similarity measure. Secondly, unlike nearly all fuzzyrisk analysis methods which are proposed so far, our method considers some otherinfluencing factors. In order to make the model more perfect, prevent serious loss ofinformation and metric uncertain information better. Finally, the algorithm of thesimilarity between generalized trapezoidal fuzzy numbers is applied to the riskanalysis which is based on the similarity between fuzzy numbers. The feasibility, effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method are further validated by usingthree fuzzy risk analysis examples.
