As a new controlled source sounding method in frequency domain, wide field electromagnetic method has many different way to send and receive, in which measuring the electric field x-direction which is formed by horizontal electric dipole is used widely at present. Now, it’s possible to give more choice in the date collection of wide field electromagnetic method by numerical calculation of electric field r-Direction which is formed by horizontal electric dipole.Depend on the formula of electromagnetic field data from horizontal electric dipole under the quasi-static conditions, the measurement sector and advantage of electric field r-direction are discussed. First, through numerical calculation of several typical models, the pr apparent resistivity is compared with the ρx apparent resistivity under3-D conditions and the general character of pr apparent resistivity can be given. Then, thought change the conditions of receiving and transmitting, the influence of receiving angle and distance between receiver and transmitter on pr apparent resistivity is compared with px apparent resistivity and py apparent resistivity. Last, through numerical calculation of source effects and static shift, the pr apparent resistivity is compared with the ρx apparent resistivity in the same conditions and the general character of ρr apparent resistivity can be given. The result shows that the pr apparent resistivity can be another choice in the date collection of electromagnetic method.
