The optimal path of the railway alignment selection belongs to a multi-objective optimization problem with constraints. The determination of the final plan should not only consider the scientific and technical factors, but also take the socio-economic factors and natural environmental factors into account. It is difficult for the traditional method which relies mainly on the experience and ability of the designers to make a comprehensive balance of the various influencing factors. Nowadays, with the rapid development of computer technology and the gradual rise of the digital map, human-computer interaction design system will develop fast in the railway alignment selection. In order to do the research of the railway alignment selection based on the optimal path technology of GIS, the author has carried out works as follows, which is supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (51078361).First of all, this paper summarized the relative theory and the research status about the railway alignment selection.Secondly, the influencing factors index system has been established. Using systems engineering, optimization theory and fuzzy theory this paper proposed the index weights calculation method based on the fuzzy attribute hierarchical model.Thirdly, the author established the analysis model of railway alignment selection. According to the idea of digital terrain model, optimal path analysis technique of ArcGIS and data of region, topography, geology, terrain and environmental, the paper gave the corresponding values of each grid cell of affecting factors to illustrate the cost of railway covers different grid unit so as to build the analysis model of railway alignment selection.Fourthly, the railway alignment selection aided design system based on Visual Basic.NET, Microsoft SQL Server2005and ArcGIS Engine has been deplored. The system can analyze the route direction under both single factor and Multi-factors respectively, do further refine about the optimal path program, draw line plane fast and note the elements automatically. Finally, the paper set the new railway design ZhangPeng-WuYuan as an example to test the railway alignment selection aided design system and design the optimal path.
