Except the sudden earthquake, there are slow earthquakes in the interior of theearth. The observation and research of slow earthquake, to reveal the earthquake, theearth dynamics and fault rupture process, has important theoretical and practicalsignificance. It also provides a new way for earthquake prediction research. Slowearthquakes often happen several hours before major earthquakes, so the observationof slow earthquake instruments can provide useful information to the short-term andimpending prediction.There is a large blank area between bands of Seismometer and crustaldeformation instrument, gravity meter. The band of slow earthquake is just on thisblank area. In order to fill the gap of two classes of observation instruments,Institute of seismology, Chinese Earthquake Administration successfully developedbroadband tiltmeter.At present, the observation experiment with broadband tiltmeter has finished insome stations of China, and there are more and more broadband tiltmeter in thecrustal deformation observation network. It is important to investigate the datarecorded by broadband tiltmeter. In this paper, the works on the data recorded bybroadband tiltmeter are as follows:Wavelet transform and short time Fourier transform method was used to analysisbroadband tiltmeter observation data. The results obtained since2008occurred on theEurasian plate in the series of more than magnitude7earthquake, before theearthquake time-frequency map, with no major earthquakes when the recordedtime-frequency map of the characteristics of the typhoon, earthquake, found in thefirst2to4days in the emergence of a dominant frequency of0.1Hz, it may beassociated with the earthquake gave birth.The other section is based on broadband tiltmeter data using source-scanningalgorithm(SSA) to locate earthquakes. The results show that under the condition of3 stations, for outside network earthquake, uniform spherical shell model, the locationprecision decreased with the increasing distance from the network, and in the neareststation is878Km, the longitude error is-1.11°and the latitude error is2.73°. Atthe same time, we found that there may be a problem in the time system of Huangmeistation and Ningshan station.
