Aluminum alloy has excellent characteristics, such as high specific strength, highspecific stiffness, good corrosion resistance and light weight with low price, it widelyused in aviation, aerospace, automotive and other areas. Since it so widely used, studieson the forming processing of aluminum alloy have important meanings.In this paper, hotprocessing maps of6061aluminum alloy is established, which provided guidance formetal forming processing optimizing. Based on this maps, the structure parameters of6061aluminum alloy parts with ribs has been optimized.In this papar, it has firstly summarized the research progress of hot processing mapsas well as the characteristics and applications of6061aluminum alloy, The finite elementnumerical simulation technology development has also been intruduced. Then thedeformation behavior of this material is investigated by hot-compression test onZwick/Roell Z020Universal test machine at the temperature range between360℃to480℃and strain rate range between0.001s-1to1s-1. Finally the Hyperbolic sineconstitutive equation is calculated by a fitting method.By comparing with different hot processing maps principles, proper criterions forestablishing power dissipation maps and instability maps have been found. The difficulty ofintergration under complex constitutive equation has been solved by converting the directintergration into accumulative calculation. And then hot processing maps of6061aluminumalloy has been established under hyperbolic sine constitutive equation, combined withmicrostructural investigation.Finite element numerical analysis software Deform-3D has been adopted to simulate theforming process of6061aluninum parts with ribs. In the simulation, the matirial mold ofpiece is self-indentified as hyperbolic sine constitutive equation. Forgings with threedifferent main strcuture parameters, which are circular bead, web thickness, rib width, havebeen simulated. And the prcossing results is analyzed according to the hot proceesing maps. The two results, one is the thoery result figured out from hot processing maps, the other isforming result obtained directly from the simulation, are closely meet with each other.Therefore, the hot processing maps reliability has been verified. The optimized structureparameters are as following, circular bead is4mm, rib width is3mm and web thickness is6mm.
