The researches of this thesis are focused on two aspects:One is study on the sy nthesis of Gemini surfactant containing modified rosin. The second work is study on t he structural characterization and performance testing of synthesized rosin-based Gemin i surfactants.1. Four types of multi-hydroxy quaternary ammonium the Gemini surfactant contai ning modified rosin, N1,N2-bis(2-hydroxy-3-(7-isopropyl-1,4a-dimethel-1,2,3,4,4a,4b,5,6,10,10a-decahydrophenanthrene-l-carbonyloxy)propyl)-N1,N1,N2,N2-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl)eth-ane-1,2-diaminium dibromide, N1,N2-bis(2-hydroxy-3-(7-isopropy1-1,4a-dimethyl-1,2,3,4,4a,4b,56,10,10a-decahydrophenanthrene-l-carbony-loxy)propyl)-N1,N1,N2,N2-tetrakis(2-hydr oxyethyl)propane-1,2-diaminium dibromide, N1,N2-bis(2-hydro-xy-3-(7-isopropyl-1,4a-dim-ethyl-1,23,4,4a,4b,5,6,10,10a-decahydrophenanthrene-l-carbonyloxy)propyl)-N1,N1,N2,N2-t-etrakis(2-hydroxyethyl)butane-1,2-diamini-umdibromide,2-hydroxy-N1,N3-bis(2-hydroxy-3-(7-isopropyl-1,4a-dimethyl-1,2,3,4,4a,4b,5,6,10,10a-decahydrophenanthrene-l-carbonyloxy)p ropyl)-N1,N1,N3,N3-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl)propane-1,3-diaminium dibromide, were synthe sized in ethanol solvent by refluxing the intermediate3e3-(bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amino)-2-hydroxypropyl7-i-sopropyl-1,4a-dime-thyl-1,2,3,4,4a,4b,5,6,10,10a-decahydrophenanthren e-l-carboxylate(BHDPC) with1,2-dibromoethane,l,3-dibromopr-opane,1,4-dibromobutane, epichlorohydrin respectively. BHDPC was prepared by rosin, epichlorohydrin, diethano lamine.The structure of products were characterized by FT-IR,1HNMR.2. The physicochemical properties of the four surfactants were determined includin g:emulsifying capacity, surface tension, conductivity, foaming ability.The results show that they possess better surface activity.3. The thermal properties of the four surfactants were determined by DSC, TG, a nd the cryst-alline properties of the four surfactants were determined by XRD.4. We study on the effect of the conductivity of the four synthetic polyhydroxy Gemini surfactants containing rosin on temperature by conductance method. In the ad-dition, the micellar behavior of the four synthetic polyhydroxy Gemini surfactants con-taining rosin was studied. The values of ΔGmθ, ΔHmθ and-TΔSmθ at different temper ature can be calculated. The results showed that micellization process of the four synt-hetic polyhydroxy Gemini surfactants containing rosin Synthesis is spontaneous, and warming is in favor of micellization. The-TΔSmθ value of each synthetic polyhydroxy Gemini surfactants containing rosin are smaller, and significantly lower than the value of ΔHmθ, so the micellization of the four synthetic polyhydroxy Gemini surfactants containing rosin in aqueous solution is driven mainly from the entropy effect.
