With various different kinds of topological structure of rare earth metal complex-es and potential application of functional materials, they have became the hot spot ofthe metal coordination compounds research. When the rare earth metal complexes we-re formed, the limited rare earth metal ions combined with the ligand which are unli-mited. A novel structure and function of rare earth metal complexes could be synthesi-zed via choosing the appropriated ligand. Organic aromatic carboxylic acid ligandsare usually used as oxygen ligands in organic ligands. Aromatic carboxylic acid ligan-ds have a variety of coordination types, which can be combine by so many rare earthmetal as center ion, and multi-dimensional structure can be formed from0D,1D,2D to3D.Meanwhile because of most rare earth elements have high coordination numbersand unique optical and electrical, magnetic, biological, adsorption and catalytic andother aspects of properties. Now they have play more and more attention from all wal-ks of people and domstic in recent years.Especially the industrial development plan-ing of rare earth functional materials in the twelfth five-year guideline in our countryhave carried on the agenda. Therefore, the research of rare earth metal complexes areurgently necessaryly. In order to explore potential applications of he rare earth metal complexes whichhas a novel structure,we choose rare earth metal which are from lanthanide for coor-dination center ion combined with a kind of single carboxylic acid and a dicarboxylicacid as the first ligands, phenanthroline worked as second ligands. The structures ofcomplexes a、b and c all were determined by the X-ray crystal diffraction. The compl-exes are mainly characterized by he melting point, solubility, elemental analysis, IRspectrum and UV spectrum. The thermogravimetric analysis and photoluminescenceproperties were also discussed. This paper, we have synthesized three kinds of compl-exes as following:a) monoclinic, P2(1)/c, a=11.3104(11) nm, b=25.814(3) nm, c=18.3579(19) nm,α=90°,β=96.927(2)°,γ=90°,V=5320.9(9) nm~3,Mr=1215.28;b) monoclinic, C1c1,a=11.1577(5) nm, b=18.0123(6) nm, c=13.0850(5) nm,α=90°,β=100.659(4)°,γ=90°,V=2584.4(2) nm~3,Mr=696.79; c) monoclinic, P2(1)/n, a=13.4364(3) nm, b=14.5406(3) nm, c=16.6669(5) nm,α=90°,β=127.382(2)°,γ=90°,V=2587.45(11) nm~3,Mr=812.82.
