As the non-renewable resources, oil does control the economic lifeline of our country. Oil is a kind of consumables, and is not unlimited, in order to understand the well capacity, so we must always pay attention to the well depth, which can reduce unnecessary loss in mining process. In the process of oil drilling, measuring liquid level depth of oil Wells is a very important work, is to know well the important premise of oil-producing capacity. Only by accurately measuring the well depth, can we take the most effective way of mining to improve oil production rate. Main research purpose of this paper is to design a liquid level measurement system, which can more quickly and accurately get the well depth.Using of the principle that the propagation of sound in a medium will be reflect the pulse signal when encounter obstacles, by the introduction of the pros and cons of three kinds of methods, finally echo method selected is used to measure the well depth.In oil well liquid level measurement, the nature of the strong penetrating power is peculiar to gunfire.The use of gunfire as the sound source can not only make good voice spread down, but also be able to save costs. Piezoelectric ceramic microphone can not only resist Wet conditions and high temperature,but also the manufacturing cost low. this article chooses the resonant piezoelectric ceramic which has a flat frequency response and the stability characteristics of changing with time and environmental temperature so that receiving signal. Using Lab VIEW graphical programming for the curve fitting of sound velocity, it will find the fitting formula suitable for oil well measurement of sound velocity, and make the problem easier,and improve the measurement precision.From the perspective of improving measuring precision and speed,using Lab VIEW graphical programming language to form oil well liquid level measurement system. LabVIEW is straight forward to see the receiving of echo signal,and get effectively transmission time from signal processing,so that calculation of the well depth.
