Strip is a major product of steel rolling. It has a wide range of applications ineconomy. With the development of society, strip quality of gauge and shape became morestringent. While gauge and shape adjustments have been improved, the interaction ofadjustments has increasingly becoming obvious. Therefore research on interactionbetween gauge and shape adjustments is essential in the theory and practice. The interaction between gauge and shape adjustments is inevitable, becauseadjustments of gauge and shape control affect roll gap. There is lag-time in gauge andshape closed loop control that causes overshoot and oscillation. While the separateresearch on decoupling and lag-time is much, the combined research is few. This thesisdiscusses the coupling combined with lag-time by simulation. The contents are as follow:This paper selects hydraulic screw-down and roll bending as the subject of couplingplant. The static plant of gauge and shape control is established. The physic meanings ofcoupling parameters are discussed. The relationship between coupling and parameters isexposed. Dynamic models are established for simulation. The effect of coupling andlag-time on strip quality is uncovered. This paper tries the solution of serial decoupling and smith-predictor in simulation. The effect of model accuracy on control performance of serial decoupling andsmith-predictor is analyzed.Dynamic matrix control (DMC) is firstly introduced to the adjustments of strip gaugeand shape control. The theory of dynamic matrix control is formulated and realized bydesigning program using the Matlab. The simulations using DMC is carried out whenthere is exactness and a little error between the controller and the plant. The performanceof DMC in adjustments combined gauge and shape is analyzed.
