Thin high strength steel sheet and aluminum alloy sheet with low stiffness, tailor-welded blanks and composite panels are increasingly used in industry. Because of the poorformability of these sheets, it is difficult to meet the needs of production with thetraditional deep drawing process. Therefore, it is important to develop new process toimprove the formability to shorten the production period, decrease energy consumption,protect environment, as well as reduce cost.Current research shows that the new radial segment technology can effectivelyincrease forming effect of axisymmetric radial block blank holder. Because of largerproportion of non-axisymmetric parts in the actual production,using radial segmentmethod to study the forming law is more important.Finite element simulation method analyzes the box deep drawing for the blankthickness distribution of flange section. research shows that, according to the given casestudy, in the flange area the radial maximum differential thickness is0.0937mm, a thecircumferential maximum differential thickness is0.0251mm. The traditional pressuremethod and the regular circumferential block pressure while cannot solve the problem ofradial thickness distribution of the flange area.For rectangular box drawing of the blank, using the radical divided block holder canhold the blank along in the radial direction. Using the FEM simulation method, deepdrawing of Rectangular box with double divided blank holder is analyzed. The resultsshow that Radial block pressure method is suitable for the rectangular box has a relativelysmaller straight border region Experiment verify the effect of radial segment blank-holder.Using the finite element simulation method obtain the wrinkling law of blank flangedeformation zone. Research shows that there is a non-monotonic change in the shape ofthe flange area wrinkles and also illustrates the overall blank holder can cause the internalwrinkling of flange deformation zone. By adopting the method of mixed block blankholder, rounded corner area is according to the principle of gradient along the radialthickness of the block, effect of blank holder is better. To rectangular box drawing example, by using mixed block blank holder method, theblock position and blank-holder force distribution was studied, and research further gettsthat the rounded corner area’s best block position is within the range of circle around15mm to20mm wide.Research shows that the radial segment blank holder can obviously improve theeffect of blank holder. The principle of sub-block mixed-pressure side fillet block positionis determined according to the thickness at the maximum gradient.
