Solid lubrication technology in cutting machining can improve cutting quality andprocessing environment effectively, and protect the cutting tool. Moreover, thedevelopment of the solid lubricant coating technology mainly relies on study on coatingmaterials and processes. The paper focuses on the preparation and performance of a newtype of composite solid coating on HSS cutting tools, and provides a theoretical basis forthe high-speed steel tools dry cutting. The test process on the guiding of the material surface science and theorytribochemical, MG-2000tester is used on friction and wear testing to research the coatingtribological properties and thermal stability. The frictional chemistry is combined withsolid lubricant particle characteristics, the film quality of the coating and lubricatingmechanism are analyzed by SEM and energy spectrum. The experimental shows that the composited lubricant coating of MoS2, WS2andSb2O3has better excellent function than the single coating. The tribological properties ofcoating is the best, while their mass ratio is2:1:1. WS2is the most significant influencefactors. The surface of the coating remains relatively uniform solid lubrication coatingunder400℃after15mins for grinding by SEM analysis, and it still has good lubricationperformance. Three-dimensional finite element technique is used for simulate the processof solid lubricating coating on cutting of HSS tool, and cutting force and cuttingtemperature are analyzed by simulation results. It conforms that the simulation value ofcutting force are corresponding to the actual value, and the simulation value of cuttingtemperature are reasonable that compared with calculated data.It shows that the coating has good wear resistance under high temperature. So thecoating could meet requirements of HSS tools. The novel composite solid lubricant couldreduce friction coefficient and cutting heat, and alleviate wear. Moreover, experimentalresults demonstrate that the coating can effectively reduce the cutting force from10%to20%.
