High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is an insulating and flammable macromoleculematerial. To modify the insulating property and inflammable property, so far a lot of methodshave been created, and HDPE composites have been prepared as well as, which haveelectrical property and flame retardant property.Based on the dissolution filling method in the dissertation, High-densitypolyethylene/exfoliated graphite (HDPE/EG) composite was prepared with flake graphite,HDPE and ATH as raw material. At the same time, HDPE/EG composite was also modifiedto the material, which has the antistatic property and flame retardant property synchronously.The whole research of work consists of the following three aspects in the dissertation.1) Exfoliated graphite (EG) was prepared with50or80mesh of flake graphite,concentrated sulfuric acid, potassium dichromate and peracetic acid as reactants in chemicaloxidation method. At the same time, the influences of the reactant mass ratio, the reactiontemperature and the reaction time on the expansion volumes were also investigated, and theoptimal reactant mass ratio the optimal reaction temperature and the optimal reaction timewere discovered, which used in the process of EG preparation. On the basis of the discoveries,the optimal condition of EG preparation was affirmed, which used in the process ofHDPE/EG composite preparation. Otherwise, the morphology and structure of EG prepared inthe optimal condition were also characterized with SEM.2) EG prepared at the optimal condition and HDPE were used as raw materials, andHDPE/EG composites were prepared with the dissolution filling method in the light of themass ratios. At the same time, the resistance values of HDPE/EG composites prepared underthe condition of different mass ratio were also measured, and the resistance values ofHDPE/EG composites under the condition of different relative humidity were also measured,and the resistance values of HDPE/EG composites under the condition of differentenvironmental temperature were also measured with ACL800megohmmeter (A specialinstrument made in American measures the surface resistance). On the basis of the resistancevalues, not only the influences of the mass ratio, the relative humidity and the environmental temperature on the resistance values of HDPE/EG composites were found, but also the massratio was found, which prepared HDPE/EG composite with antistatic property. Otherwise, thestructure of HDPE/EG composite was also characterized with SEM and IR.3) Use EG prepared as anti-static packing, HDPE and ATH as raw materials,HDPE/EG/ATH composites were prepared with the dissolution filling method in the light ofthe mass ratios. At the same time, the resistance values of HDPE/EG composites preparedunder the condition of different mass ratio were also measured with ACL800megohmmeter, andthe oxygen index values of HDPE/EG composites prepared under the condition of different massratio were also measured with XZT-100A oxygen index tester. On the basis of the resistancevalues and the oxygen index values, not only the influence of the mass ratio on the resistancevalue of HDPE/EG/ATH composite and the influence of the mass ratio on the oxygen indexvalue were found, but also the mass ratio was found, which prepared HDPE/EG compositewith the antistatic property and the flame retardant property. Otherwise, the structure ofHDPE/EG/ATH composite was also characterized with SEM.
