Sulfuric acid industry has many years of development history. Sulfuric acid has many uses in many fields. It has a good reputation called:the mother of the industry. Currently, most of sulfuric acid industries apply a double-conversion&absorption contact method. Contact method is using a catalyst that loading diatomaceous earth hydroxide or potassium sulfate (cocatalyst) of vanadium pentoxide, the conversion of sulfur dioxide to sulfur trioxide.The contents of the research projects is to improve the entrance on the basis of the double-absorption contact process sulfuric acid intake pressure, so as to improve the conversion rate, the purpose of reducing exhaust emissions. Improvements on the specific devices include these areas:firstly, in order to increase the pressure, apply centrifugal compress or instead of fans; secondly, before discharge the exhaust into the tail gas absorption tower, recovery energy by condensing steam turbine; thirdly, use the HRS process that invented by MECS company instead of the traditional dry absorption process first-absorption tower to increase the recovery of low level heat energy.We need to use process simulation software to predict the feasibility of the program. Aspen Plus is a software that can predict the impact of changes in process parameters on the process results, production plant design, process improvement steady-state simulation and optimization of large general-purpose simulation software. After more than20years of experience, continuous updating of the perfect, Aspen Plus has become a worldwide standard process simulation software, is currently the most powerful on the international commercialization process simulation software.This topic focuses on increasing pressure to improve the traditional process of sulfuric acid, and applies Aspen Plus simulate and optimize the process of drying and absorption and energy recovery system.The results showed:when the intake pressure becomes3.5atm,the additional investment energy (because of compressing air) and the increase of SO2conversion rate is optimal.
