Surface water source region is an important conservative place of social and economic water for human. It is an important prerequisite and the foundation of monitoring the surface water source region to protect the water supply. There are many problems lying in traditional means, such as imperfect monitoring networks and unable to get surface information directly. Remote-Sensing, as an advanced monitoring tool, can get large-scale, rapid and objective information from surface water bodies, thus it has some advantages in monitoring surface water bodies and can be an effective complement to the traditional means. Based on the analysis the research actuality about remote sensing technology in surface water monitoring, this paper assessed the application status of remote sensing technology in monitoring the water body of water source field on the surface of earth, and found out some problems in its complication, then carried out technical studies for the problem and proposed surface water monitoring technology of remote sensing methods, developed a surface water source remote sensing application technology framework, and finally carried on a sample application, and achieved little results. Here are some conclusions as follows:1) This paper propose a technology applied framework for monitoring water body. In this framework, it can provide two types of indicators:indicators for monitoring water storage of lake and reservoir; indicators for monitoring the dynamically distribution of basin. The output of two indicators need to use remote water monitoring technology, remote sensing and ground monitoring assimilation techniques, and remote sensing technology and other hydrological monitoring, hydrological modeling technologies. Which meet the water-based remote sensing technology for monitoring the frequency and time accuracy requirements of the water body area information, remote sensing and ground monitoring assimilation techniques is urgently need to address the key technical issues. In surface water body monitoring, the induction of remote sensing technology can reduce costs, improve monitoring and evaluation accuracy.2) It proposed a surface water source monitoring applications based on multi-satellite sources. To meet the surface water management requirements of time and space for the accuracy, high temporal resolution multi-spectral remote sensing data is used as common sources of monitoring, and use high spatial resolution and low temporal resolution and more spectral remote sensing data as a supplement daily business application data, which can be used for monitoring daily business validation and accuracy assessment results can also be added as an image sequence. On different satellite data sources presents targeted water extraction methods, data sources through multi-satellite, multi-processing method combination to accomplish to meet the business requirements of the water body area index output. For different satellite data sources it put forward the corresponding water extraction method. Through multiple satellite data sources, multi-processing method combination, it can meet the business requirements of the water body area index output.3) It propose a technology and methods of surface water source monitoring data and space data assimilation. With obtained using continuous monitoring of remote sensing satellite data with ground water area monitoring data assimilation model creation, analysis and evaluation of water reservoir storage capacity, enriching the water reservoir water body monitoring tools and perspective correction characteristic curve of the reservoir to improve the storage capacity monitoring accuracy, while there is provided a process-oriented world of data assimilation surface water source water storage capacity monitoring technology implementation roadmap for technology widely promoted and laid the foundation for business applications.4)For the application of technology, it induced the instance—Gangnan which is one of the water sources in Middle Route Project of S-N water diversion and Hutuo watershed. The results show:based on remote sensing application technology framework, it applied the assimilation techniques of satellite-based multi-source surface water source of remote sensing technology and the world of data storage capacity monitoring, and produced the reservoir storage capacity and Gangnan Ganghuang South Reservoir water distribution basin above two dynamic monitoring and evaluation, and it improved the ability and the accuracy of monitoring Gangnan Reservoir watershed and above at lower cost.
