Research On The Characters Of Carbon Emissions And Climate Impact Of Shanxi Province During1991-2011

This study uses the formula of carbon emissions recommended by the IPCC, bases on the data of total energy consumption and composition table in the Statistical yearbook of Shanxi Province, calculates and analyzes the current situation and structure characteristics of carbon emissions during the year1991-2011in Shanxi Province. Supported by the assembly of meteorological data in Shanxi Province, it discusses the relationship between the carbon emissions and the variation of climate factors such as annual average temperature, precipitation, and sunshine time during the past20years. After that it gives a systematic introduction on the main industries which influence the carbon emissions and climate change in Shanxi. The results are as follows:(1) The general trend of the carbon emissions of Shanxi Province is growing, especially since the year2000, the growth rate of carbon emissions has increased significantly. The per capita carbon emissions in Shanxi Province are higher than the national average each year. And after2000the gap has a gradually widening trend. Although the intensity gap of carbon emissions in Shanxi Province has decreased year by year, it is still higher than the national level. The carbon emissions of the secondary industry are the highest among the three major industries in Shanxi Province. The carbon emissions of the tertiary industry have the fastest growth rate but the intensity is the lowest.(2) Both the annual average temperature and the accumulated temperature above0℃in Shanxi show a trend of increasing during1991-2011. The trend of precipitation change is not obvious. The sunshine time is showing a clear downward trend.(3) There is a significant correlation among the change of climate factors, carbon emissions, per capita emissions, emission intensity and carbon emissions of the secondary and the tertiary industry in Shanxi. To some extent, the main reasons for the climate warming in Shanxi are the carbon emissions from the secondary and the tertiary industry.(4) The main industries which influence the carbon emissions and climate change in Shanxi Province are iron and steel industry, coking industry, chemical industry, building materials and thermal power, from the top to the end.
