It has achieved significant results that the content of economizer inlets iron dropped to trace level in thermal power plants applying WOT. The phenanthroline spectrophotometry has not sufficed the new water treatment technology. Duing to the high cost, graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry has not widely used in thermal power plants. Based on previous work, the improved method has been put forward to resolve the plights of detection of trace iron.The sensitivity of the improved measurement has been increased by an order of magnitude0.02, the detection limit was0.717μg/L. The bias of standard deviation and AVG was0.003. The RSD was between0.07%and0.35%.Catalytic Kinetic Spectrophotometric is the superior method to measure the trace iron in water. It has been proved based on the system of Fe(III)-H2O2-helianthine. The reaction temperature and reaction time have a greater impact on the stability. The absorbance was variation of0.15when the temperature changed by5℃. In summary, further research is need in applying power plant production.It has been designed that instrument principle diagram of on-line determination of iron, automatic transfer device, auto-evaporative concentration device. Instrument principle diagram includes several units: concentrated unit, cooling unit, coloration unit, detection unit. The concentrated unit included three-way solenoid valve, concentrated pre-pump, automatic enrichment device and a variety of auxiliary equipments. The cooling unit included concentrated transfer device, cooling water tank, peristaltic pump, and various auxiliary equipments. The coloration unit included:two6-channel injection valve, dosing pump, five chemical liquid storage tanks. Detecting unit comprised of a light source, the monochromator, the absorption cell, the detection system. It can achieve concentrated, dosing, coloration, reading the data. In addition, two devices has been designed, which were automatic transfer device and auto-evaporative concentration device.
