The rational design and preparation of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) are still one of the most focused areas of crystal engineering, dueto their fascinating architectures and highly promising chemical andphysical application in many fields such as molecular recognition,catalytic purposes, ion exchange, drug delivery, and so on. This workmainly describes the synthesis, characterization and properties ofcoordination polymers with flexible bis(imidazole) ligands. Full textincludes four chapters:In Chapter1, we primitively introduced the research present ofsemirigid V-shaped aromatic multicarboxylate ligands and bis(imidazole)ligands. The basis of thesis was illustrated.In Chapter2, seven new coordination polymers, based on threebis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)-benzene isomers and metal ions, have been synthesized. including:[Cd(1,2-bix)2(Cl)2]n·2nH2O(1),[Cu(1,2-bix)2(Cl)2](2),[Cu(1,3-bix)2(NO32]n(3),[Cd(1,3-bix)2(H2O)2]n·nNO3(4),[Cd(1,3-bix)2(NO32]n(5),[Cu(1,3-bix)2(H2O)2]n·2nCl(6),[Cu8(1,4-bix)8(DMF)2(Cl)16(H2O)2]·2DMF·2H2O(7), where DMF=N.N-dimethyl formamide,1,n-bix=1,n-bis(imidazol-l-ylmethyl)benzene (n=2,3,4). Further, thermal stab-ilities and luminescent properties of compounds were investigated. Theircorresponding structures demonstrate the positional isomeric influence ofbis(imidazole) ligands on giving rise to such coordination motifs.In Chapter3, the rigid4-Carboxybenzaldehyde and flexible1,n-bix(n=2,3,4) ligands are mixed with metal ions to prepare multinuclearframeworks. Eight new metal-organic frameworks, namely,[Cd2(1,2-bix)4(L)4](8),[Cd(1,3-bix)(L)2]n·nH2O(9),[Cd(1,4-bix)(L)2(H2O)]n·2.5nH2O (10),[Cu2(1,2-bix)2(L)4](11),[Cu(1,3-bix)(L)2]n·nCH3OH·3nH2O(12),[Cu(1,3-bix)(L)2]n·nH2O (13),[Cu5(1,3-bix)2(L)6(NO32(H2O)2(OH)2]·2H2O(14),[Cu(1,4-bix)(L)2]n(15), where HL=4-Carboxybenzaldehyde,have been obtained. The photoluminescent of compound8-10, magneticproperties of11,13and14have been studied in the solid state.In Chapter4, the V-shaped organic aromatic multicarboxylatespecies:4,4’-oxybis(benzoic acid),2,2’-oxybis(benzoic acid) and4,4’-oxidiphtalic acid act as the auxiliary ligands. Nine novel structures wereobtained by using flexible bis(imidazole) ligands and auxiliary ligands:[Co2(OBA)2(1,2-bix)2]n(16),[Co(OBA)(1,3-bix)]n(17),[Co4(OBA)4(1,4- bix)4]n·6nH2O (18),[Co6(OBA)6(1,4-bix)6]n·2nH2OBA·4nDMF·7nH2O(19),[Cu(OBA)(1,2-bix)]n·nH2O (20),[Cu(1,4-bix)(O-OBA)]n(21),[Cd3(L02(O-OBA)3]n·3nH2O (22),[Cu(1,2-bix)(H2ODPT)]n·2nH2O (23),[Cd4(ODPT)2(1,3-bix)2]n·2nH2O (24), where H2OBA is4,4’-oxybis(benzoic acid), O-H2OBA is2,2’-oxybis(benzoic acid), H4ODPT is4,4’-oxidiphtalic acid, L0=1,2-bis(2-methyl-imidazol-l-ylmethyl)benzene,Their structures have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffractionanalyses and further characterized by IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetricanalysis (TGA). Luminescent properties of22and24were alsoinvestigated. The results revealed that various coordination modes tometal ions of V-shaped aromatic multicarboxylate ligands may affect thestructures and photoluminescence properties of coordinationarchitectures.
