Coordination polymers have a variety of properties, functions and potentialapplications such as gas sorption, catalysis, molecular magnetism, luminescence,nonlinear optics and ion-exchange. The linear ligands can keep their configuration in theprocess of self-assembly. And V-shaped ligands can adjust their configuration to adaptdifferent coordination codes. a serial of ligands containing imidazoly or pyridine andtheir metal compounds were synthesized and their properties were detected. So we havedesigned and sythesesed four different ligands containing imidazol or pyridine termini.Some interesting results were listed as follow:1.Rigid linear ligand1,4-bis(imidazol-1-yl)benzene(L1) and their four differentunreported metal compounds were synthesized:[Co(L1)(ndc)·H2O]n(1)[Cd(L1)0.5(glu)]n(2)[Ni(fum)(L1)(H2O)2]n(3)[Co2(btc)(μ1,2-COOH)(L1)2(H2O)3]n(4)H2ndc=2,6-Naphthalenedicarboxylic acid,H2glu=Glutaric acid,H2fum=Fumaric acid,H3btc=1,3,5-Benzenetricarboxylic acid. The crystal structures of Metal-OrganicCoordination Polymers were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum,thermogravimetric analysis and X-ray crystallography. Fluorescence spectra ofcoordination polymer2was measured.2. Asymmtric1-(imidazol-1-yl)-4-(pyridine-4-yl) bezene (L2)and their three differentunreported metal compounds were synthesized:[Cd(btc)(L2)]n(5){[Co2(bptc)0.5(L2)(H2O)2]·H2O}n(6){[Cd(OHbdc)(L2)2(H2O)]·H2O}n(7)H4bptc=3,3’,4,4’-Biphenyl tetracarboxylic acid, OHbdc=5-Hydroxyisophthalic acid.The crystal structures of Metal-Organic Coordination Polymers were characterized byelemental analysis, IR spectrum and X-ray crystallography.3. V-shaped ligand4,4’-bis(pyridine-4-yl)diphenyl ether(L3) and their one differentunreported metal compounds were synthesized:[Co3(trans-chdc)2(L3)2(H2O)2]n(8) {[Cd(ndc)(L3)(H2O)]·H2O}n(9)trans-chdc=Trans-1,4-Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid. The crystal structures of Metal-Organic Coordination Polymers were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrumthermogravimetric analysis and X-ray crystallography.4. V-shaped ligand4-(imidazol-1-yl)-4’-yl ((pyridine-4-yl)diphenyl ether(L4) and theirone different unreported metal compounds were synthesized:[Cd(ndc)(L4)]n(10)the crystal structures of Metal-Organic Coordination Polymer was characterized byelemental analysis, IR spectrum thermogravimetric analysis and X-ray crystallography.
