In underground engineering, igneous rock sometimes local intrusive into the mine is a more general geological phenomenon, but in the entire mining area even less wider common occurrence, especially the situation of directly on the seam is covered with a wide range of thick layered igneous roof strata is even more rare. How to solve the control problem of the the thick layered igneous roof of the coal face has become a major issue in the longwall face hard roof control technology.In this paper, make research on No.9seam’s extra-thick (average thickness25.53m) igneous roof of Guo Erzhuang mine, though drilling on the roof strata sampling,laboratory tests,use the Rock Slab Theory of Underground Pressure calculation and analysis to study the way of how to control the igneous roof, major findings include:(1) By drilling, sampling, and laboratory tests, determination of physical and mechanical properties of the igneous rock roof strata. (2) According to Rock Slab Theory of Underground Pressure, analysi longwall igneous roof strata’s pressure and know the igneous rock fracture process in the mining process, in this way calculate the igneous rock roof strata’s behavior law.(3) The weighting step and the pressure most dependent upon the thickness of the basic roof rock; Mining height (2.50m to3.50m) can’t change roof weighting step distance and compressive strength. Roof weighting step and pressure intensity depends on effective caving height.(4) Thick-bedded diorite hard roof with a strong Behavior Characteristics, when sleet hydraulic Support, hydraulic Support should be configured large flow safety valve and bracket have a high initial support to enhance the impact of the stand load capacity.(5) In the production process, Guo Erzhuang mine should to develop a sound of pressure observation, determination of the actual rock pressure in the coal seam through the actual rock pressure observation behavior law (roof first pressure step and compressive strength; Periodic Roof step and compressive strength,etc.), provide the basis for the safe production and scientific management.(6)Discusse the measures of force roof for igneous rock roof.
