Clamping Apparatus is one of the important components of Injection Molding Machine, it’s used to achieve the reservation function. Closing apparatus performance has direct influence on the product forming precision and efficiency, its movement characteristics also affects the plastic molding equipment forming speed and service life, and at the same time, as an important component of the molding equipment, the structure also affects the discretion of the molding equipment cost.Injection molding machine double clamping unit application through a long-term practice test, but its design still depends on the engineering and technical personnel of experience and manual calculation, due to design variable of double clamping unit is various, computation complex, development cycle is long, make the conventional design parameters be conservative, difficult to obtain closing device optimal operation of the system parameters, to some extent, restricted the closing device performance, also make actually value produced a discount.Although in recent years, Closing mechanism parameters optimization have been researched, but programming complexity and can’t transplant generally makes the optimization method is difficult application in large scale, lack of practical value. At the same time, injection molding machine clamping mechanism in the lock mode mainly through the elastic deformation of system to generate the clamping force, this will obviously opposed template movement characteristics, and produce a certain influence to molding products quality, but the present research on clamping mechanism involves the mechanism of elastic deformation very little, dynamic template movement characteristics of uncertainty. It’s against the molding products quality and process control.With the continuous development of science and technology level, upgrade of products faster and faster, need a fast and effective product design method and process. In this article, double-toggle clamping unit of small SZ400injection molding machine produced is the research object, comprehensive studies the joint mechanism movement characteristics, the force amplification ratio and stroke ratio of clamping mechanism, clamping deformation condition and other related parameters is derived in detail. Related mathematical model was established. According to the actual operation requirements, the force amplification ratio and dynamic template stroke ratio of clamping mechanism as the objective function, set the right design variables and constraints, the mathematical model of optimization was established, at the same time, based on Matlab, program is written for the optimal GUI and facilitate the rapid optimization design for clamping mechanism to realize. After reconstruct the model based on CREO, dynamics simulation contrast was carried based on ADAMS and ANSYS, obtained the dynamic template movement characteristic curve, verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the optimization program. It provide a reference for the quality and process control of the product. GUI optimization get the following conclusion:the force amplification ratio increased by2.2%, the dynamic template stroke ratio increased by8.75%, indicating that GUI optimization method can not only achieve the original plan work performance requirements, but also improve the optimization convenience requirements.The study of this paper research to the five hinge joint-double clamping unit not only provide a reference for fast design and optimization, but also provide a basis for process and quality control.
