This new technology of aluminum electrolysis which is electrolyzed by inertanodes, inert cathode and low temperature electrolyte has great significance inaluminum electrolytic industry. Because the technology of aluminum electrolysis cansolve the high production costs, labor-intensive, serious environmental pollution, lowelectrolysis efficiency in the aluminum electrolytic industry. In this new technology,the development of inert anodes is the core. As cermet material not only maintains thegood resistance to oxidation and corrosion of ceramic, but also has good toughnessand electronic conductive of metal, so it becomes the preferred inert anode material.In all kinds of cermet system, the cermet of (10NiO-NiFe2O4) matrix inert anodematerial becomes a hot spot because of its excellent corrosion resistance.This paper based on international science and technology cooperation (NO.2010DFA52130). In this paper, the ceramic matrix (10NiO-NiFe2O4) is selectedaccording to the early study. A representative composition,17Ni/(10NiO-NiFe2O4), isselected as the cermet inert anode, and17Ni/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) cermet inert anode isprepared by hot pressing.First of all, using Fe2O3and NiO as raw materials, researches about thepreparation of NiFe2O4ceramic substrate is undertaken by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscope(SEM). The influence of sintering temperature andholding time to the conversion rate of NiFe2O4is discussed. Finally we would foundthat the best solid phase sintering technology of the NiFe2O4ceramic is1100℃andholding2hours.Then,17Ni/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) cermet inert anode is prepared by hot-presssintering using (10NiO-NiFe2O4) as matrix. Next, the effect of sintering processparameters(sintering temperature, holding time and sintering pressure) on sinteringproperties, electrical conductivity and mechanical properties of the17Ni/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) cermet are explored via X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electronmicroscope(SEM). And the properties of the samples are researched which includedensity, electrical conductivity, hardness, bending strength and thermal shockresistance and so on. The influence rules of parameters of sintering process onproperties of17Ni/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) cermet is obtained. The optimal sinteringprocess of17Ni/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) cermet by hot-press sintering, sintering temperature is1100℃and holding time is20min30min and sintering pressure is16MPa20MPa, could achieved.
