Grinding machine, the important machining equipment, is widely used in machining the mechanical parts with high dimensional accuracy and quality surface. The requirement of high speed and high accuracy need grinding machine has good static and dynamic characteristics. Therefore, using the design method based on the combination of virtual prototyping technology and finite element method to analyze the static and dynamic characteristics of the grinder key components and machine has become an important mean of design.Based on the principle of static and dynamic characteristics and summary of research progress on static and dynamic characteristics as well as structure design optimization of grinding machine at home and abroad, the static and dynamic characteristics of the M7130grinding machine is analyzed with ANSYS software and the structural improvement of key components are carried out.Firstly, the geometric model of grinding machine is simplified with Pro/E software and imported to ANSYS by the software interface which establishes the key components as well as the whole machining FEM model. Secondly, based on the structural static and dynamic analysis theory, the static and dynamic characteristics of the key components have been analyzed to obtain the deformation contours, stress contours, natural frequency and mode shape. On the basis of the results, to improve the structure of the lathe bed, the pillar and the grinding head with the methods of parameters discussion,dual structure decomposition and sensitivity analysis in order to improving the dynamic characteristics of the components at the same time reducing the mass of them. At last, based on the simplified joint surface, comparing the static and dynamic performances of original grinding machine and new grinder. Analysis results show that compared with the original design, the new scheme achieves a wonderful optimization, which not only reduces the weight, but also improves the static and dynamic performance of the grinding machine.The static and dynamic analysis as well as the structure optimization technology can provide an effective reference to the practical engineering design.
