Cold storage material which is composed of super absorbent resin andinorganic salt has good practicability. This kind of cold storage material isapplicable to the physical cooling and cold therapy, which has become thepreferred product of medical and health institutions. However, at present,the cold compress bag expresses as liquid state after usage which is easyto flow. Moreover, the cooling time is relatively short and the bag can notbe reused, thus, the consumption capacity is relatively large. Therefore,this kind of cool storage material could only provide limited conveniencefor the medical staff. In this study, super absorbent resin was selected asthe main raw material and a cold storage material whose cold quantityreleased evenly and slowly was optimized.The cold storage effect of four kinds of super absorbent resinmaterial has been measured by the relationship between the temperatureof resin after frozen and the thawy time in this study. And the optimizedconcentration has been conducted for the aqueous solution of four superabsorbent resins A, B, C and D. The experimental results showed that, inthe0.2%~1%concentration range, the optimum concentrations were:resin A0.8%, B0.4%, C0.6%, D0.8%; in0.8%~4.5%concentrationrange, the optimum concentrations were: resin A2.5%, B0.8%, C1.5%,D1.5%. The aqueous solution of resin C1.5%enjoyed the best coldstorage effect by the comparison of four kinds of resin. NaCl, Na2SO4and Na2CO3were separately added to the resin Aaqueous solution, and tested the cold storage effect of the mixture. It isfound that the resin cold storage effect worsened due to the influence ofdissolution equilibrium. In addition, the properties of the resin itself (suchas water absorbency and particle size) were also analyzed for theirinfluence on the cold storage effect. The research results showed that theinfluence of the resin water absorbency on cold storage effect was notsignificant; while the smaller resin particle size was favorable for the coldstorage effect, and the specific rules still need further study.
