The application of V-N microalloyed controlled rolling in the medium plateproduction is a new developing technology to reduce the cost and product upgrade inrecent years. In the medium plate production, the problem of uneven property alongthe thickness direction of the plate occur due to surface layer deformation anddisaccord of recrystallization behavior between surface metal and center. It is valuableto optimize the technology of a new steel grade to obtain the internal temperature,strain, strain rate and grain size distribution in the rolling plate through the analysis ofthe high temperature deformation behaviors in medium plate rolling process by finiteelement simulation.On the background of developing a new V-N system micro-alloy steel grade inone of domestic steel plant, a numerical simulation model for medium plate rollingprocess was established using commercial FEM software MSC.Marc based on thepractical production processes. The piecewise simulation method was employed tosimulate six passes rolling process with a single model. At the same time, a subroutineabout V-N steel austenitic dynamic recrystallization, static recrystallization and grainsize model grain evolution process was developed according to single and double passthermal simulation experiment results in the present paper, the subroutine wasinserted to the finite element software MSC.Marc and the numerical simulationcalculation was carried out simultaneously. The corresponding data including nodestemperature, strain, grain size after rolling each time was transferred in the calculationpass and finally the metal deformation as well as internal microstructure evolution inthe plate rolling process was visualized from the results of the workpiece temperature,strain, strain rate and grain size distribution in the roughing rolling process. Theresearch results have significance to practical application to establish V-N micro-alloysteel plate quality prediction system and optimization of rolling process parameters.
