In the paper, Cellulose Acetate was studied by melt blending and melt grafting. The mechanical properties, rheological properties and heat resistance of different modified systems were researched systematically.CA was improved by PA and PC. Series of CA/PA and CA/PC alloy were prepared by different technics and also by changing the amount of PA and PC. The mechanical properties, rheological properties and heat resistance of different modified systems were researched systematically, the results showed that:(1) The notched impact strength, elongation at break and heat distortion temperature of CA/PA were higher than CA’s, but tensile strength and bending strength were lower;(2) The CA/PA alloy which had been extruded by the twin-screw had higher notched impact strength, elongation at break, tensile strength and heat distortion temperatures than the CA/PA alloy which had not been extruded by the twin-screw, but its bending strength and bending modulus were lower;(3) The notched impact strength and heat distortion temperature of CA/PC were higher than CA’s, but elongation at break, tensile strength and bending strength were lower;(4) The CA/PC alloy which had been extruded by the twin-screw had higher notched impact strength, elongation at break, tensile strength, bending strength, bending modulus and heat distortion temperatures than the CA/PC alloy which had not been extruded by the twin-screw.(5) The notched impact strength and elongation at break of CA/PA alloy were higher than CA/PC alloy’s, but the tensile strength and bending strength of CA/PC alloy’s were higher than CA/PA alloy’s.Series of CA/POE-g-MAH, CA/EPDM-g-MAH and CA/EVA-g-MAH were prepared and studied. The results showed that the toughness of all the alloy was higher than CA’s toughness, but the tensile strength and bending strength were lower.The melt graft of MAH onto CA was studied. The thermal stability and rheological behavior of grafted CA were studied and the result showed that the graft CA had better thermal stability. Its viscosity was lower and MFR was higher.
