With the environmental issues becoming progressively worse, people’s awareness of environmental protection has been heightened gradually. Recently few years has witnessed a kind of terrible weather with heavy fog and haze,which makes people pay more attention to the PM2.5. As one of most important contributor of the PM2.5controlling the emissions from diesel vehicles has been getting more and more concerns.Faced with increasingly stringent diesel emission regulations, diesel particulate filter(DPF) has been widely used and researched. In this paper, the application of a new material called carbonized micron wood fiber(CMWF) in the purification of diesel PM was studied. Compared with the common DPF materials, the CMWF has several advantages,such as high filtration efficiency and low exhaust backpressure. More importantly, its basic raw material is residues of wood process,wood itself is a green renewable resource, so this material may have good prospects.In this paper, on the basis of a through understanding of the physicochemical character of the PM, combined the characteristic of the CMWF, first of all, the trapping efficiency of one signle fiber based on the intercept effect, inertia effect, collection effect which works on the diesel PM was calculated by using classic fiber theory;and after that, a theoretical model was built on the total filtration efficiency of CMWF for diesel PM by using logarithm penetration theory.Based on many experimental data, compared with the empirical expression of many researchers, the theoretical model of the resistance during the progress of the purification of CMWF for PM was established by using dimensional analysis in the dynamics of the flow field. In the end,according to above theoretical model,several relevant theorical analysis of influencing fctors to the performance of the CMWF filters has been made.Surrounded by the specific structural parameters, according to the steps of process, silk rubbing, gluing, molding, drying, carbonization, post-processing preparation, the CMWF DPF filter with different parameters was made. The testing station of the CMWF DPF filter performance was designed and built, and its software system was developed by using Kingview6.5based on the Windows XP. According to GB3847-2005,the filtration efficiency and exhaust back pressure of some filters with different structural parameters were metered and compared with the theoretical value. Which could finally prove the reliability of theoretical analysis. This paper further perfected the study on the application of purification of PM with the CMWF matrial, which has promoted its progress of practicality.
