The clothings experience a wrinkle-recovery-wrinkle(WRW) cyclic process in wearingor washing, so the wrinkle generation is a dynamic process, which includes stress relaxationand creep, it is the fatigue phenomenon. Not only this, the wrinkle generation is the result ofseveral kinds of stress, such as tension, pressure and friction. However, the traditional testingmethod bases on the assumption that wrinkle is generated only under static-state-compression, the practical condition are much more complex, and the traditional testingmethod can not character the “wrinkle-reply-wrinkle” cyclic process.In response to the situation, kinds of stresses are exchanged into one form, which isrelationship between load and displacement. And based on this stress relationship, this paperapplied visco-elastic model with six components to simulate the stress relaxation and creep of“wrinkle” process. But the “wrinkle-reply-wrinkle” process is dynamic, this paper appliedalternating cycle analysis to simulate it. At last, the wrinkle fatigue curves were presented.Based on the analysis of wrinkle-recovery-wrinkle (WRW) cyclic process, this paperdesigned a dynamic device, which can generate wrinkles dynamically on fabric under variousstresses. From that, two wrinkling modes could be chosen:(1) In order to characterize thewrinkle fatigue, a kind of fabric was wrinkled with different time in the device;(2) Tocharacterize the wrinkle resistence of different fabrics, different fabrics were processed withthe same time. For getting the good testing results, a testing method was established: After thefabrics wrinkled, three feature values were proposed and adopted to evaluate wrinkle;and thewrinkle degree assessing was carried out by clustering analysis. And by the results anddiscussions, the new device and the testing method can well test the dynamic wrinkles. For auto perception, this paper presents a digital method to evaluate the wrinkle infabrics. The wrinkle is generated by a new wrinkling device. The digital method consists ofimage processing, wrinkle feature values extraction, and wrinkle degree assessing by BPnetwork. The influence of background color can be eliminated in the image processing;fourfeature values were proposed and adopted to evaluate wrinkle;and then BP network canassess the wrinkle degree. The results from tests illustrated the digital method can be aneffective objective method for evaluating wrinkle in fabrics. Meanwhile, the negativeinfluence of background color on wrinkle evaluation was solved.
