Starch is the main raw materials with features of wide variety of sources, low price, low toxicity, readily biodegradable, excellent environmental adaptability, renewable, and it can be widely used in the textile, printing and dyeing paper, household chemicals, petroleum, food, building materials, water treatment, and many other areas of the national economy. Modified starch slurry, as the main starch in textile industry, has a more excellent property with its sizing performance, such as the size film buckling resistance, abrasion resistance, adhesion property and other aspects improved dramatically while still maintaining, the advantages of original starch.Modified starch as a warp sizing body itself still has poor flexibility, high glass transition temperature, and uncompleted and brittle film forming ability. Therefore, it is necessary to add corresponding plasticizer to starch slurry for the purpose of softening the size film, improving the sizing quality and the weaving efficiency. With the replace PVA size big background, when starch brittleness damage performance is more and more serious, the starch modified treatment and plastic improve for warp sizing not only fully comply with the development of the industry trend, but also become a very urgent research emphases.By comparing with comprehensive plasticizing effect of a variety of common plasticizers in the pulp industry, diammonium hydrogen citrate is selected as the excellent plasticizer. Using four kind of starch including oxidized starch, acidified starch acetate, starch and phosphate starch slurry as the matrix, the plastic slurry was studied from the following aspects:(1) From the plasticizing theory, plasticizing process of plasticizers on polymer materials is systematically analyzed. Low molecular weight plasticizer is added to the polymer in the polymerization system, and the original hydrogen secondary bonds (i.e., Van der Waals forces) are destroyed and the chain mobility of the starch molecules increases. While starch hardness, elastic modulus, softening temperature, and embrittlement temperature dropped, and starch performance is improved such as elongation, flex and flexibility.(2) Preparation of the modified starch slurry. Using corn starch as a matrix, choosing oxidized starch, acidified starch acetate starch and phosphate starch slurry, and related performance of the modified starch is tested. The results shows that the four kinds of modified starch are indeed oxidized starch, acidified starch, acetate starch, phosphate starch.(3) Preparation and testing the serosa and slurry properties of plastic starch slurry. By adding the amount of different diammonium hydrogen citrate as plasticizer into four starch slurries, the relations between the plastic starch film properties and the relationship is studied,and the best proportion of the plasticizer is selected, i.e. And oxidized starch is1%, acidified starch is0.5%, acetate starch is1%, phosphate starch is1%. And test the slurry performance with the best plasticizer proportion and without plasticizer. And research the effects of plasticizer on slurry performance is done. The study results showes that the plastic starches can improve the serosa elongation and bending resistance, moreover enhance effectively viscosity thermal stability, but it is no effect on viscosity-the concentration, viscosity-temperature variation.(4) Choosing double helix cone mixer to prepare for plastic starch slurry, then the sizing experiments are carried out and the sizing performance is tested. Choose four best plasticizer content of slurry to prepare of plastic starch slurry, respectively sizing cotton and polyester/cotton yarn on the sizing machine; study the sizing influence after the sizing test of plastic starch slurry. The results shows that plastic starch can enhanced obviously on cotton yarn hairiness, abrasion resistance, strengthen and other aspects, while not clear in improving of the polyester/cotton yarns.(5) Plastic starch slurry for No PVA sizing test. According to the factory formulations, using the prepared plastic starch mixed with polyacrylic slurry and K-2000starch size to prepare slurry serosa, and then it is tested and analyzed of film property of the mixed slurry that diammonium hydrogen citrate as a plasticizer. And four kind of plastic starch slurry are applied to for No PVA sizing practice. By comparing the comprehensive performance, mixed slurry of plastic starch is obviously better than that of single four kinds of modified starch in sizing the two kinds of yarns.
