As the growing of global population, the developing of industry, the demand forfresh water is rapidly growing. We now faced with the situation of water scarcity andwater pollution situation has become more critical. The emergence of electricaladsorption method provides people with a new water purification technology. Theelectrical adsorption method without the Faraday reaction under the premise, usingcharged particles of the electric double layer storage solution that formed at theelectrode and solution to achieve the purpose of the water purifier. This technologyhas low energy consumption, easy to operate, and no secondary pollution on theenvironment and low running costs.Firstly, using graphite plate as electrical adsorbing electrode study the desaltingeffect with the different conditions changing in the number of electrode pairs, theworking voltage, influent concentration and flow. Then changed the water flow intoswirls down by the front and rear plug-flow and began the experiment ofdemineralization. Finally, activated carbon electrodes were prepared in different ratiosto obtain the best ratio process. And compare the electrochemical properties ofgraphite electrodes and activated carbon electrodes by cyclic voltammetry study. The experiments show that:(1) the desalting efficiency of four electrodes pairs ishigher than the two pairs. Electrically adsorption desalination unit optimum flow are40ml/min, the smaller the flow the longer the residence time of charged particles, there is sufficient time to allow charged particles to reach the interface of the electricdouble layer. The best working voltage is1.8V. Using a graphite electrode processingpotassium nitrate simulated water which concentration is250mg/L, the maximumremoval efficiency of29.1%. The flow pattern of the solution changed to swirls down by the front and rearplug-flow so that extend contact time of charged particles and electro-absorption plate. With the conductivity in between240F cmto1010F cm, the desalination rateof sodium chloride water mostly between25%to40%. The desalination efficiency ofdifferent flow is between17.73%to33.48%; it shows that we can change liquid flowto improve desalination efficiency;Using activated carbon powder, conductive carbon black and PTFE prepareactivated carbon electrode. Experiment results show that the best ratio: activatedcarbon powder: conductive carbon black: PTFE=95%wt:5wt%:5wt%. Studies haveshown that the specific capacitance value of the activated carbon electrode is higherthan that of the graphite electrode by cyclic voltammetry.
