Ash River is a tributary of Songhua River. The pollution in Ash River basin is themore serious and the economic in this basin develop rapidly. As point sources andnon-point source pollution load increases in this river, resulting a serious crisis of thewater in Ash River. Thus, references scientific and effective way to develop the waterquality management system of the Ash River Basin is the very important means togovern Ash River Basin water pollution. This paper analyzed the basic conditions of AshRiver briefly, and carried out the survey of water pollution load and the evaluation ofwater quality in the study area. This paper select the WASP/EUTRO modulerecommended by EPA to establish water quality model of Ash River in Harbin urban, estimate the pollutants bearing capacity in the90%guarantee rate hydrologicalconditions, and calculate how much pollution load should be reduced in every reach ofAsh River. This paper also put forward the comprehensive management measures andrecommendations which should be taken to protect water quality ofAsh River. The main contents are as follows: investigate the pollution load of Ash River. Thefindings show that there are27key wading enterprises in Ash River Basin currently, which has three companies’ sewage excessive emissions. The total emissions ofindustrial point source waste water is2217800tons. According to the actual results ofthe monitoring applied single factor evaluation and comprehensive evaluation methodto evaluate water quality of Ash River, and analysis the excessive levels of typicalpollution factor and the consolidated pollution status in Ash River Basin.Using WASP/EUTRO model simulated the water quality of Ash River. Then, usingthe model simulated the trends of COD and NH3-N in each reach of study area in2012in time and space. Used the established water quality model to estimate the Pollutantsbearing capacity of water environment in each reach, and estimate how much COD andNH3-N pollution load should be reduced. In the end, this paper proposed thecomprehensive management measures and recommendations to protect water quality ofAsh River.
