Persistent Organic Pollutants have properties of highly toxic, persistence,bioaccumulation and long-distance migration, which can be a serious threat tohuman health and sustainable development of society. In recent years, theenvironmental behavior and fate of POPs in multimedia environment has became aresearch hotspot. Because of the complexity of environmental media, we usuallysimulate its environmental behavior by multimedia environmental model. The mostwidely used multimedia environmental model is fugacity model put forward byMackay.The study is based on the basic theory of fugacity model, then build a sewagetreatment plant fugacity model, whose environmental phase include air, water, soil,sediment. The model can be made software through combining with computertechnology. The model can simulate the environmental behavior and fate of SVOCSin the sewage treatment plant.The development tools of the software are Microsoft Visual Basic6.0andMicrosoft Access2003.The input parameters are stored in database, and we canmodify, add, delete data in the software. Simulation results can output in the form ofpie chart and mass balance diagram.The software was applied to simulate the environmental behavior of1-methylnaphthalene. The research results show that1-methyl naphthalene is removedmainly by sludge adsorption and biodegradation. The simulation result is close tothe monitoring data, and sensitivity analysis show that the sensitive parameter ofsludge adsorption is Kow, the sensitive parameter of biodegradation is vapourpressure, the sensitive parameter of volatilization is half-life.The software was applied to simulate the environmental behavior of PAHs,PAEs and VMS. The simulation results show that Kow has a linear relationship withsludge adsorption, Heney’s constant also has a linear relationship withvolatilization.The research results can provide theoretical basis for environmentalmanagement, and it also has some practical significance to water security andsustainable development of society.
