CNC technology has demonstrated a superior performance in medical equipment, aerospace,military industry and other fields. Five-axis linkage CNC technology is the core of CNC technology,and it not only represents the development direction of CNC industry, but also has great significancefor the manufacturing industry development. At present, the domestic use of high-level five-axis CNCmachine (especially the CNC control system) relies on import mostly, and the price is quite expensive.Consequently, there is no delay to accelerate our own five-axis CNC machining technology researchand related industry development.In order to study and explore the five-axis CNC machining technology and reduce developmentcosts, a miniature five-axis CNC milling machine with A-C dual rotary worktable (400mm×370mm×400mm in size, the processing travel100mm×100mm×100mm) is designed and built in this thesis,and researching contents are as follows: the mechanical structure of the milling machine is designed,processed and assembled. The five-axis milling machine control system with "PC+programmablemotion controller" architecture is developed in order to realize the motion control of the miniaturemilling machine. A space B-spline curve discrete interpolation algorithm is proposed. A hemispheresurface B-spline butterfly curve is processed with the algorithm on the five axis milling machinesystem in order to confirm the effectiveness of the algorithm. At last, a face model is simulated on thesimulating system in VERICUT software and processed on the five-axis CNC milling machine.The processing results indicate that the five-axis milling machine has the ability of five-axislinkage CNC machining, and the target of the subject is realized. It not only meets the requirement ofhigher college students’ study about five-axis CNC machining technology, at the same time, reducesthe equipment cost. So it is an economical and practical experiment device for the research of openCNC system.
