With the development of society and economy, the railway oil tank car in thepetrochemical field is used more and more widely, and the transportation of crude oil, heavy oil accounts for about18%of the total railway trucks. Because the crude oil, heavy oil etc. are easy to freeze during transportation at low ambient temperature andhave high viscosity with poor fluidity, in order to melt them and reduce the viscosity toincrease unloading speed, heat need be inputted into the viscous oil tank car. Therefore, heating system is a key part of viscous oil tank car. In this dissertation, a new heatingsystem of80t viscous oil tank car is evaluated, and researched experimentally andnumerically.During the experiment of this thesis, three simulated tanks, with a new heatingstructure, an internal heating coil structure, and the old heating structure, weremanufactured and an experimental loop was set up. The working fluid is water and oil,the flow rate of steam is1.5g/s,4g/s,7g/s, and10g/s, respectively. When the medium iscrude oil, it was heated with steam at constant inlet pressure of150kPa and200kPa.Heating rate, oil discharge rate, internal temperature distribution and the energyutilization ratio of three tanks at different conditions were obtained. The externaltemperature field of steam heating structures of the new and old external heating tankswas measured using an infrared imagerThe experimental results show that the temperature in the new external heatingtank varies with time linearly, the heating effect of the structure is relatively uniform, steam distribution is more reasonable, and the condensation effect is good, the totalpressure drop is minimum. Although the temperature rising rate, oil unloading speedwas slightly less than that of the internal heating tank, but its oil discharge rate, and the utilization of energy source is better. In order to verify the accuracy of the heating experiment, numerical simulation iscarried out to count the external heating structure and the internal heating structure withCFD software FLUENT. The heat conduction and natural convection during thedissolving process of frozen oil in the two structures were calculated, and melting timeof100mm frozen layer, and the time required to reach40℃were compared. Theresults show that the external heating structure is better than internal heating. The thesis provides a a reference for the evaluation of the heating system of80tviscous oil tank car, and is valuable for engineering.
