Safety of drinking water of rural areas is an important indicator to reflect thesocio-economic development and residents’ quality of life in rural areas; which affectsthe level of residents’ health. The content of CPs in the drinking water is minimal, butthe harm to the environment and human health can not be ignored. The phenols indrinking water are will check items in China’s test drinking water norms; their contentshould be less than0.002mg/L.This article studies mainly the determination method of CPs in drinking water inrural areas,2-CP,2,4-DCP,2,4,6-TCP and PCP of drinking water in rural areameasured by SPE-HPLC. Based on CPs detected in the drinking water of differentlocations in Minle County, the article introduced the physicochemical properties andhazards of the four CPs, summarized analytical detection methods and outlined theseveral kinds of the liquid sample pretreatment technology. A SPE-HPLC fordetermination of four CPs based on solid phase extraction conditions andchromatographic conditions which were optimized in the drinking water wasestablished. The results showed that under the optimal conditions which wereHypersil ODS column, UV detector, mobile phase (Methanol solution containing1%acetic acid: Ultra-pure water containing1%acetic acid), velocity of flow=1.0mL/minand the injection volume=20μL, SPE-HPLC can separate completely four kinds ofCPs. The limit of detection of2-CP,2,4-DCP,2,4,6-TCP and PCP were0.0006mg/L,0.00010mg/L,0.00007mg/L,0.00002mg/L; Recovery ranged from86.37%~98.35%;The relative standard deviation of peak area was between2.13%~6.44%. Tests provedthat this method had same characteristics which included simple operation, smallinterference, low-cost analysis and met the testing requirements of traceconcentrations of CPs.Researching CPs had a certain practical significance on theenvironmental quality of drinking water in rural areas.
