Convertor ring is one of the key equipment for bearing load and driving in converting process. It is not only bearing static load caused by furnace body and material, live load c-aused by starting and braking, but also bearing thermal load caused by thermal radiation a-nd heat conduction of furnace body, steel ladle, slag ladle and splashing etc.So the strengt-h of the convertor ring is very important to the facility of converting process.First, the thesis introduces the converting process’s development and the research at h-ome and abroad, discusses primary structure and feature. Based on that, it analyses the co-ndition in damaged and material which used of converter ring. Meanwhile states its worki-ng background.Second, the research of this paper is based on a company’s210t convertor ring. Build-ing the precise model in Pro/E; doing finite element analysis in workbench by import themodel; meshing the body of convertor ring with shell unit and the trunnion plus connectin-g base with solid unit, this method speeds up the analysis meanwhile gets a good and preci-se meshing. For the connection of the shell unit and solid unit, it uses MPC technology, i.e.Multipoint constraint equations method. Then calculating the convertor ring’s center of gra-vity when it works on different angle for next process.Finally, analyses the mechanical stress of7different angle working status which are0°,15°,30°,45°,60°,75°,90°. The method of setting load uses remoteforce which is a technology of MPC. It makes the result more precision and gives a new method to set load. Simula-ting the temperature field by linear interpolation and solving the thermalstress. Then consi-dering the overlay of mechanical and thermalstress, analyzing7different working angles a-s previous, gets the maximum stress of overlay and the angle.The result shows that thermalstress is the main reason which damaged the convertor ri-ng; the maximum stress is on the inner rib board. It has stress concentration in the end of t-runnion and means these areas are easy to be damaged. Additionally, the maximum stress- s is small than the limit of its material. So it proves the feasibility of the material, and the st-rengths of the convertor ring meet the requirement.This paper could be referenced for designing new convertor ring and maintaining th-e current converter ring which is used in steel works. It has a certain value.
