Converter loop is the most important carrying and transmission components of theconverter supporting system. It needs a strong affordability. Because the loop needs to bearmuch force, such as the furnace load, pour moment, dynamic load, heating load and so on.To master the stress state and structural characteristics of converter loop by mechanicaland thermal analysis is necessary.The object of this study is210t converter loop with thin slices steel connecting andwater-cooled. Taking into account of the converter in patactical work,it is necessary tostudy mechanical stress、thermal stress and superposition of two stress effect, the methodof thesis is using Sub-entity model imported into the the finite element software.Specificily,after modeling by Pro/E Wildfire3.0, a format of.iges was outputting by the FiniteElement Analysis software-ANSYS Workbench12.0. Under three conditions of heatconduction、 convection and radiation, the mechanical stress、 thermal stress andsuperposition of two stress effect was discussed.After analysis of the converter loop, the character of mechanical stress、heat stress、heat-machine coupling and the stress of their respective proportionthe extremism wasobtained. The result shown that the location was the connecting of loop and ear axis,which was the working dangerous area because stress concentration existed on there.The pour moment that converter loop can bear under different working angles werecalculated. These results provided the fundamental basis for the design of pour machine. Inthis study the buckling of the ribs under dangerous situation was analysis. The resultshown that the stress and moment of the ribs were small at great stress position. But it wasa significant impact on the stress distributed by the ribs’ location.Analyzing of the loop stress provided theoretical basis for designing and maintenanceof loop. This study have much positive significance, such as improving the life of loop,ensuring the production line smooth, improving economic efficiency for enterprises.
