It has been more than a decade since China conducted pilot work on separatecollection of municipal solid waste of eight cities in2000. However, in terms of theoriginal intention of the pilot--in order to widely apply their successful experience, achieve full-scale separate collection of household waste in both cities and towns, the goalhas not been reached. A review of many cities in both positive and negative aspects of theexperience shows that too much emphasis on the resource of recyclables and ignoring thetreatment of food waste which its quality matters more than half is one of the main reasonsof the unsuccessful garbage classification work.Appropriate choice of food waste disposal mode is the linchpin of maximum reductionand reasonable resource, the guarantee of all harmless of food waste. This paper analyzed thestatus quo of kitchen waste both at home and abroad, focus on the research of the treatmentequipment, technical feature, situation of application, the pros and cons analysis andpresentation of seven relatively manure food waste treatment method with practical utility.Thereafter, a case study of Shenzhen has been made. By analyzing the influencingfactors of food waste treatment formula, using analytic hierarchy process, MATLABprogram and other theories or methods, the design, evaluation and three-leveldecision-making of food waste treatment mode has been made. A novel combined foodwaste processing mode of "pretreatment of press, incineration power generation for dryfraction (landfilling the residues) and anaerobic digestion for wet fraction (composting theresidues)", both technically feasible and economically rational, has been proposed. In the final, the paper designed and researched the food waste treatment scenario in thetransitional period in Shenzhen, including fast bio-degration of food waste process in thetransit node, the process of high temperature compost of yard waste and food waste at thetail end. Carbon emissions abatement benefit of classification of food waste has beenanalyzed, implementation proposals of food waste treatment in Shenzhen has been provided.
