China’s annual emissions of urban living garbage total occupy27%of the totalgarbage all over the world, increasing at the rate of yearly growth rate8%~11.5%.To get rid of garbage problems, a large number of city living garbage incineration andthe production of municipal solid waste incinerator residues have increased dramatically.While being placed in different parts of the municipal solid waste incinerator residuescomposition and physical chemical properties affected by many factors, cause a certaindifference. Research on the basic characteristic of the waste incineration ash andrecycling application, there are still many problems needs further research.Municipal solid waste incineration residue contains two parts of fly ash and bottomash. The bottom ash is the major components and heavy metal content is lower than thatof fly ash. It is the core element of the recycling use.The subjects of the study are MSWI bottom ash from MSW in Wuhan. Adopts themethod of indoor test, and completed the SEM test, EDX spectrum analysis test,compaction test, shear test, the bottom slag of shear test under different moisturecontent and consolidation test, get the physical and chemical properties, microscopiccharacteristics, engineering properties. At the same time through the artificial imitatedembankment test, verify the feasibility of slag as the embankment filling and advantage.The main results are as follows:(1) MSWI bottom ash of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis showedthat the porosity is higher. It is composed by granular, needle, and reunion of crystaland a variety of irregular particles. The major chemical elements composition is: C, O,Ca, Si. From the aspects of grain size distribution, depending on the classification ofsoil slag classified as coarse sand. It can be used as a safe railway subgrade filling,highway subgrade filling.(2)The engineering properties of MSWI bottom ash are: good compactioncharacteristic, optimum moisture content is21.2%, maximum dry density is1.47g/cm3;shear strength index value is small, weak ability to resist shear, cohesion is7.95kPa,angle of internal friction is7.0o; In addition when the moisture content of bottom ashunder33.2%, the moisture content increased, bottom ash enhanced cohesion, internalfriction Angle is affected by the moisture content of regularity is not strong. Internalfriction angle is little affected by the moisture content; consolidation test has shown thatcompression coefficient α1-2=0.1MPa-1, compression modulus Ε s,1-2=18.9MPa,the compression index Cc=0.03, MSWI bottom ash belong to low compressibility ofsoil.(3) Embankment model test shows that the contrast four conditions pressure peak,1:1.5slope, by using pure sand embankment contains bottom ash embankmentcompared to a maximum of24.8%can reduce the pressure value, minimum of1.8%.1:1.75slope, contains bottom ash embankment than pure sand embankment can be up to a maximum of22.4%, reduces the pressure value of the minimum of10.3%.1:1.5slope, the embankment surface treated with contains bottom ash embankmentthan pure sand embankment can reduce the maximum settlement reached44.2%.1:1.75slope, the embankment surface treated with contains bottom ash embankment than puresand embankment can reduce the maximum settlement reached64.4%.1:1.5slope, thehorizontal slip maximum of the first condition than the third condition is a33.3%reduction.1:1.75slope, horizontal slip maximum of the fourth condition than the secondcondition is a52%reduction. The stability of the fourth condition is among thestrongest, can resist hydraulic system applied load is3.5MPa. Depending on all abovestudies and experiments, MSWI ash can effectively reduces the embankment on thesurface of the final settlement, horizontal slip and embankment internal pressure value.Compared with the pure sand filling embankment, MSWI bottom ash embankment canimprove the stability of the embankment.
