Utilization of tailings backfill mined-out area has become the development trend of tailingsdisposal, but due to the high quantity of the micro-fine particle in the fine tailings, the cake hashigh moisture and the filter has large energy consumption. Therefore, we must come up with thesolution of the technical problems which are removing part of the micro-fine particles andimproving the filtration performance of fine tailings.In this study, grading test on the fine tailings of Fankou lead-zinc mine is done using HHZcyclone. The test should ensure that the grit concentration is above60%, and the yield is not lessthan40%, and using laboratory ceramic filter plate to investigate the filtration performance offine tailings which after classificationHHZ cyclone condition parameters test showed that, when the feed concentration isbetween9.5%and13.2%, the feeding pressure is0.45Mpa, the grit mouth diameter is10mm,and the overflow tube is of22mm,the cyclone can obtain a result of which the grit concentrationis higher than60%, and the yield is about40%.The ceramic filter plate test results showed that: different concentrations of the cyclone gritcake moisture is much lower than the feed and underflow of the φ30m thickener, while the drymineral yield is much higher than the latter. This also explains that after HHZ cycloneclassification, the particle size of the fine tailings is significantly improved.Different ore samples filtration ability are determined by testing the average specificresistance of the filter cake, which shows that the feed of φ30m thickener belongs to mediumfiltration resistance of cake, the underflow of φ30m thickener and different concentrations ofcyclone grit are considered easy filtered, but the number of the average specific resistance ofφ30m thickener’s underflow is much larger than the cyclone grit.
