Dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSCs) works by imitating the principle of natural photosynthesis, using sensitizer and nano-semiconductor to convert solar energy into electric power. In recent years, DSSCs have been considered as a feasible alternative to conventional solid-state p-n photovoltaic devices, due to their distinct features such as versatility, ecofriendly, low-cost, easy manufacturing process. And DSSCs have drawn significant interest, various types of dyes have been investigated to improve the overall device performance.1. Literature Reviews. In the first part, the fundamental structure, operation principle and performance parameters of the DSSCs were described briefly. Meanwhile, the latest developments on DSSC including electrolytes, dyes and the porous TiO2thin film were summarized. The existing problems and the application prospects were put forward.2. Design and synthesize new dye molecules. With ruthenium complexes for suction electronic unit, triple pyridine for electronic unit, the introduction of thiophene, benzene ring, phenothiazine and group extended antenna ligand phenomen electronic conjugate system, to increase the electronic coupling and change film surface state energy, improve the electronic transmission capacity. Synthesis of a variety of different structure characteristics of ligand, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to determine the molecular structure.3.Work Summary. After long-term exploration, the synthesis is still not ideal compound. Summarizes the reasons for the failure of the experiment and experimental acquired during the experience, for the later work of students to provide some new ideas.
