With the sharp increase of oil and natural gas prices and the intensification of the globalenergy shortages, the development and utilization of new energy resources has become one ofthe most compelling global issues today. Coalbed methane (CBM), as a kind of clean energy,became an important research object of energy development field in recent years with itsabundant reserves and broad application prospects. On the basis of the characteristics and thecurrent utilization situation of CBM in China, this paper put forward an integrated technicalprocess and engineering design of CBM pressure swing adsorption (PSA) separation andadsorption storage and transportation (ANG) with further technical analysis by researchingand comparing with other existing technology.This process is designed to transport the high concentration of methane gas got from thepurification of CBM through PSA to the downstream users by means of adsorption storageand transportation. The PSA process is mainly aiming at the separation of methane andnitrogen in CBM. According to the simulation of designed PSA process by Adsim module inAspen, the contents of methane in the feed gas can be raised from30%to92.1%and therecovery rate is up to91.67%, which shows its good technical feasibility. The ANG process ismainly aiming at the storage and transportation of methane gas. According to the technicaland economic analysis of three gas storage and transportation methods including LNG, CNGand ANG, the ANG mode shows an outstanding economic value compared with others.What’s more, this paper chose the high surface area activated carbon as the adsorbent materialfor the process. Through the corresponding preparation technology, the adsorbent sampleswith optimal specific surface area of2753m~2/g, entrance of1.488cm~3/g and pore size of2.162nm has been produced, which can satisfied the process requirement well.This integrated technical process combines the PSA technology with ANG technologyinnovatively and can achieve the efficient utilization of CBM with the application of newefficient adsorbent. According to the gas source mining capacity of12000Nm~3/h, the totalinvestment of the CBM utilization project is about25.0million yuan and the profit is about10.7million yuan/year for saling the purified methane gas to the downstream users, namelybe profitable in four years. Above all, the integrated technical process has great applicationvalue with its simple devices, secure operation and good economy.
