It is an urgent technical problem to be solved for safe and high effective coal mining to control the deformation of surrounding rock in soft rock roadway engineering, which is researching topics for many scientists and field technicians to capture. When excaving in shaft bottom roadway, transportation roadway, the return air roadway, crossheading roadway of the Bojianghaizi Coal Mine in western mining surrounding rock is mainly powder fine sandstone, sandy mudstone, coal seams, which is muddy cemented and easy water-softening. After softening they expand and disintegrate in short time, and intensity and the mechanical properties have a significant reduction. For this particular stratigraphic conditions deep chamber and roadway, whether conventional anchors, nets, spray, cable, grouting. etc supporting structure and its materials is effective and reliable, it is lack of successfully engineering experience and reliable theoretical guidance. Especially due to the role of the pore-fissure water under mine of similar conditions, which can make the actual stress be bigger than the apparent stress that results in faster convergence speed and larger deformation of surrounding rock, the rheological property of surrounding rock is more obvious. Thus, it brings great threat to the safely producing of coal mining. Therefore, it is rather significant to explore the deformation mechanics and the deformation controlling theory of water softening rock roadway. This paper is on the basis of summarizing previous research on soft rock theory, technical achievements, Around the central topic of "mechanical measurement and design optimization of roadway support structure of water softening rock in western mine area" is carried out in-depth research.Analyzed deformation mechanism of water softening surrounding rock roadway, grasp the deformation and failure impact factors. Clear physical, chemistral and mechanical impact that water rock coupling does to the mechanical properties of rock. Understand the mechanism of anchor net spray and cable combining support and know about stability controlling methods of water softening rock roadway. Secondly, through testing research in roadway of the Bojianghaizi Coal Mine, Where mechanical and deformational measurement of supporting structure would be conducted in auxiliary transport roadway of803.5level and auxiliary transport crossheading of113101face, and so does in-situ measurement of ground stress. Then optimize the support programs, and finally contrast and analysis surrounding rock stability before and after surrounding rock water softening and support optimization through the numerical simulation.The study shows that, under the premise of detecting groundwater effectively, using anchor net spray and cable combining support is very successful in the mine, where the roadway’s integrity is good and deformation of surrounding rock and force of supporting structure are small. The design optimization of the support structure is presented, which greatly reduces the cost of soft rock roadway supporting. This have great practical significance to achieve safe, high output and efficiency producing of coal mine in deep soft rock roadway of similar areas.
