Nonlinear polymer material has became one of the hottest research point, itis new elecro-optical material which has fast response time, good plasticity,simple devices fabrication, good mechanical properties, chemical stability andthermal stability. The nonlinear polymer containing azo group is a very goodnonlinear material, but there is only little systematic study about it. In this text,four materials containing azo nonlinear chromophores were designed andsynthesized, the nonlinear optical properties were studied in system.When the microwave power was400W, reaction tempature was25℃andreacted for9min, the yield of polyphenylacrylate containing p-nitro azo groupwas73.1%. And in the condition of the dosage of para-nitro aniline, NaNO2,KHSO4were0.4g,0.2g,0.2g respectively, the grafeing rate was33.8%. Whenthe microwave power was400W, reaction tempature was25℃and reacted for11min, the yield of polyphenylacrylate containing2,4-binitro azo group was74.9%. And in the condition of the dosage of2,4-binitro aniline, NaNO2, KHSO4were0.4g,0.2g,0.2g respectively, the grafeing rate was34.1%.Polyphenylacrylate containing p-nitro bisazo group and polyphenylacrylatecontaining2,4-binitro bisazo group were synthesized in the condition of themolar ratio of hydroch-loric acid, sodium nitrite and aniline was2.4:1.1:1andin the coupling process, diazonium salt should be put in steps, controlled thetemperature of reaction system in4℃and kept strong stir. In the rearrangentreaction process, the molar ratio of acid and aniline was1:1and kept the reactionfor5h under40℃. The maximum yield of polyphenylacrylate containing p-nitrobisazo group and polyphenylacry-late containing2,4-binitro bisazo group were40.3%and42.7%respectively. The grafting rate of them both became largererwhen the reaction time increased, but the change got lower.Using tetrahydrofuran as solvent,0.7wt%azobisisobutyronitrile as initiator and polymerizing for48h, and the grafting rate of of polyphenylacrylatecontaining p-nitro azo group, polyphenylacrylate containing2,4-binitro azogroup, polyphenylacrylate containing p-nitro bisazo group and polyphony-lacrylate containing2,4-binitro bisazo group were15.5%,15.9%,16.4%,16.7%respectively, they had good film-forming property. Strong electron-with drawinggroup and and large conjugated system can improve the nonlinear performanceand the electro-optic coefficient of polyphenylacrylate containing2,4-binitrobisazo group reached14.53pm/v.
