This research prepared a low virulence and pollution emulsion for water-based wood,aiming at the problem of environmental pollution and harmful to health.Acrylic polymeremulsion was widely used in water coatings because of its good adhesion force andweathering resistance,unique weather ability and low cost.However,conventional acrylicemulsion exists some disadvantages such as high temperature of film forming,lower hardness,poor water resistance of the film,etc which limits its use in wood coating of high quality.Therefore,it becomes a research focus to synthesize novel acrylic emulsion with moreexcellent performance.In this paper,a new hard-core soft-shell structure acrylic polymer emulsion with lowMFFTand excellent properties was synthesized by the idea of particle design. Firstly, the appropriatepolymer monomers and polymerization process were confirmed. According to the research ofdifferent polymerization process and influence of the emulsion and painting film to thepolymerization temperature,the polymerization temperature was confirmed at80℃,theoptimum conditions were chosen to be the pre-emulsification technology and semi-continuousemulsion polymerization.Based on this,the influence of the proportion of anionic/non-inoiccompound emulsions,the emulsifier content, emulsifier ratio of the core/shell stage,theinitiator content,soft/hard monomer ratio,core/shell content,the amount and adding methods ofMAA,etc on the performance of emulsion and coating film were studied.In order to improvethe performance of emulsion,N-MA,GMA,AN,EGDMA,XM-600were selected to optimizeformula,the final emulsion of excellent performance were obtained.The test result indicates that the latex particle with core-shell structure on the conditionthat MMA St were selected to the hard monomer and BA was selected to the soft monomerwere synthetize.The best performance of emulsion and painting film were obtained under thefollowing conditions:emulsifier2.2%,the proportion of anionic/non-inoic1:2,emulsifier ratioof the core/shell stage,the initiator content0.56%,soft/hard monomer ratio28:72,core/shellcontent40:60,the amount of MAA is3%and adding in the shell stage,the amount of N-MA is 3%,GMA and N-MA should be added in the core and shell respectively,the amount of ANshould be4%,the optimum amount of EGDMA is1%and the ratio of core and shell amount1:1,the amount of XM-600is1%.
