As advanced composite material, Carbon fiber reinforced plastics(CFRP)is widely used in aviation, military and other fields. It has many advantages:low density, big specific strength, excellent creep resistence, good high-temperature strength. CFRP has lots of excellent work performance, but its machining is bad, so CFRP is typical difficult-to-machine material.The contradiction between unworkability and application demand is increasingly prominent. To address this problem, this paper analyzes Helical milling for hole making’s characteristic and does experimental research for helical milling of T300AG/80CFRP.Based on experimental requirement, milling force experimental operating platform of helical milling for holemaking is established. Proper CNC,measuring cell, charge-amplifier, DAQ Card and acquisition and processing software of milling force are chosen. In addition, every device is debugged at best working condition.In order to understand the influence rule of milling force along with every machining parameter, this paper designs testing program for milling force measurement, including orthogonal test and single factor experiment. The single factor experiment directly reflects influence rule of every parameter for milling force and the four parameters include spindle speed,spiral speed,axial federates and eccentricity; this paper also designs orthogonal test to study milling force for CFRP helical milling for hole making. Based on orthogonal test arrangement, experimental data of milling force is obtained and regression equation of milling force of CFRP helical milling for hole making is established. By regression equation’s test of goodness of fit, regression equation test, regression coefficient test and experimental verification, it indicates the regression equation’s fitness of test is good and the regression equation has high reliability.Diameter deviation for single factor experiment holes is measured, which indicates measuring diameter deviation is small; roughness for orthogonal test holes is measured, which indicates the roughness is a little big, to solve this problem, machining parameter is optimized to get optimized machining parameter.This paper does series of studies for milling force of CFRP helical milling for hole making, and the roughness and diameter deviation are measured and analyzed accurately, which provides important reference for follow up study of drilling method with high quality of difficult-machine material.
