Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics, due to their excellent performances such as low quality and high strength, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and other characteristics, have wide application prospects in aerospace, defense, automotive industry and other fields. With the increase of the amount of CFRP applications, the second processing quality requirements are also improving. At the same time, CFRP have the characteristics of inhomogeneous, anisotropic, low interlaminar strength, which will make burr, tear, delamination and so on easy to appear in the process of mechanical processing, especially in the process of making holes. Therefore, it is significant to study the hole quality of CFRP. The hole processing technology of helical planing cutting of CFRP has been put forward in this thesis. The following work have been accomplished:The cutting mechanism of unidirectional carbon fiber composites is analyzed, and the cutting deformation model of CFRP is established. It is found that the surface quality of the cutting is better when the cutting direction of the cutting tool is consistent with the fiber direction.The model for the helical planing cutting of CFRP is proposed, when the helical planner is cutting the reinforced plastics, then cutting the reinforced carbon fiber, the maximum cutting force occurs at the time of the main cutting edge is parallel to the fiber axis. This model can be simplified as a two-end fixed beam affected by increasing uniformly distributed loads. The critical axial force model is set up in order to analyze the quality of holes directly.Analysis of the influence of the helical planing cutting tool and the "grinding drilling" tool on the process of making holes of CFRP is done, the comparison of the axial force and the outlet quality of the hole in the two kinds of cutting tools is accomplished, the conclusion is drawn that the method can reduce the axial force and improve the machining quality of the hole when the helical planing cutting tool is used. The experiment proves the feasibility of the processing technics of helical planing.
